The Japanese TV Sneeze Prank
Regular viewers of Japanese TV will be familiar with the uaido shō (wide shows=variety shows) that dominate TV schedules in Japan. These consist of tarento (TV personalities) and comedians getting together to particapate in group activities, most commonly those staples of Japanese life, eating, drinking, shopping and travelling.
There’s only one thing that the people on these shows like doing more, and that’s having a laugh - typically at the expense of unwitting members of the public. Pranks involving the public are watched by the wide show participants, whose reaction to the ‘hilarity’ is shown in the corner of the screen.
The best Japanese TV pranks are the ones that elicit the best responses from the people involved (just as in western TV programmes like Candid Camera and Trigger Happy TV), and in this video the girl at the end of the clip is obviously traumatised by the prank - much to everyone’s amusement.
I already posted another example of this kind of humour before, the toilet pranks video in Toilets In Japan - Part 4.
