Welcome to Big On Japan! This website is a collection of pieces I’ve written over the last few years during my time spent living in the Kansai region of Japan and newer material I’m currently working on.

Even though I no longer live in Japan, I still love writing about the country and have contributed articles to Kansai Time Out, Kansai Scene and Japanzine, as well as the pieces you’ll find here on Big On Japan.

My posts on Big On Japan mostly feature observations and analysis of Japanese people, language and culture, but also sometimes cover other aspects of my life in Japan teaching English (eg comparisons between western and Japanese culture, notes on the English language, my favourite slang I use to talk about Japan etc).
